Trip Home
Saturday October 9th, 2004
I was up early the next morning, about 4:15 AM. I
flew from
Bangkok
to
Taipei, killed some time there,
then
flew to
Seattle
from there. I wasn’t able to
sleep much on the plane, just a single nap of maybe a couple hours. That
was a long travel day, 25 hours of traveling, and 30 hours total because once I
got to
Seattle
I stayed up to start getting over the jet-lag. Due
to the date-line, I left
Taipei
at 4 PM Saturday and got home at about 2 PM the same day, feeling like it was 8
AM after an all-nighter. When I got
in,
Seattle
was 53 degrees and raining, perfect.
Epilogue
I really enjoyed this trip. There
were a bunch of things that were uncomfortable, like the temperature and a few
long days, but it was a great experience and lots of fun. I
enjoyed hanging out with
Bill,
he’s a great friend and a great tour guide. Angkor
is astonishing. At the time I felt
like I’d had enough walking around temples, but now I feel like I could
use another few days there, unguided, to experience them more without being
tired and rushed trying to see everything. Railay
and Hat Ton Sai are excellent. Hopefully
I’ll get to spend a month or so in Hat Ton Sai some time.
